Delhi CNG Station Blast: Truck Had Extra Cylinders, Say Police
A blast at a CNG station in Delhi has left three people dead, with police saying the truck being refuelled had more cylinders than permitted

A blast at a CNG station in Tikri Kalan, Delhi, has left three people dead and several others injured. The incident occurred while a CNG-run truck was being refuelled, and police have registered an FIR into the matter.
Investigation Underway
Police have begun investigating the cause of the blast, with initial findings suggesting that the truck had more CNG cylinders than permitted. The truck, which had authorisation for six cylinders, was found to have additional cylinders fitted, which were being refuelled at the time of the incident.
The Delhi Police has registered an FIR under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, against unidentified persons, for causing death by negligence. The police are questioning the dealer who runs the fuel station, as well as his staffers, in connection with the case.
Allegations of Negligence
The family of one of the deceased persons has alleged that the dealer was negligent in maintaining the fuel station, citing complaints of pipe leaks over the past two to three months. The family has demanded action against the dealer, saying that the blast could have been prevented if the issues had been addressed.
A staffer who suffered injuries in the blast also alleged that there were issues with the pipes and equipment at the station, which had been reported to the dealer but not fixed. The police have said that they will question the dealer and the gas supplier, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), about the allegations.
Response from Authorities
IGL has said that the station is owned and operated by Aadhya Energies, and that preliminary findings suggest that additional cylinders were fitted in the truck at the time of the incident. The company has said that the legitimacy of these additional cylinders, as well as the cause of the incident, are under investigation by the relevant authorities.
The police have said that they will investigate all aspects of the incident, including the maintenance of the equipment and the fitting of additional cylinders in the truck. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of CNG stations in the city, and the need for stricter regulations and monitoring to prevent such incidents in the future.
