Delhi Traffic Police Suggest Road Fixes to Ease Congestion
The Delhi Traffic Police has proposed a series of road and traffic engineering works to ease congestion and improve road safety in west and south-west Delhi.

The Delhi Traffic Police has suggested a range of road and traffic engineering works to ease congestion and improve road safety in west and south-west Delhi.
The proposals, which were discussed during a recent meeting between the traffic police and other agencies responsible for Delhi's roads and infrastructure, include road widening and flyovers, U-turns, pedestrian crossings, and speed-enforcement measures.
According to the list of interventions drawn up after the meeting, the traffic police and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have identified trouble spots across west and south-west Delhi, including key stretches connecting Uttam Nagar, Dwarka, Najafgarh, Nangloi, Peeragarhi, and Rohtak Road.
| Intervention | Location | | --- | --- | | Road Widening | Uttam Nagar-Dwarka Mor stretch | | Flyovers | Outer Ring Road between Vikaspuri and Peeragarhi flyovers | | U-turns | Dabri Gol Chakkar | | Pedestrian Crossings | Near Dipali Chowk Metro station | | Speed Enforcement | Near Metro Quarters and Deenpur-Goyla | | Variable Message Signs | UER-II | | Rumble Strips | UER-II | | PVC Bollards | UER-II | | Speed-Detection Cameras | UER-II, Metro Quarters, and Deenpur-Goyla | | No U-Turn/No Entry Signs | UER-II |
The traffic police has also sought Public Works Department (PWD) intervention on the Uttam Nagar-Dwarka Mor stretch, including redevelopment of the Dabri Mor roundabout, and repairs to the Nangloi-Najafgarh Road from Nangloi Chowk towards Bani Camp.
A senior traffic police officer stated that the proposals have been verbally discussed with all the agencies involved, and a formal proposal will soon be made.
The traffic police is also looking at building a "loop" to manage the traffic converging from UER-II and Dwarka at the junction opposite Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre.
The proposals aim to address the concerns of damaged roads and missing central verges, poorly managed junctions, inadequate pedestrian crossings, and gaps in speed enforcement in the area.
The traffic police has also proposed the installation of a foot overbridge or skywalk at Peeragarhi Chowk, and a pedestrian underpass near Dipali Chowk Metro station.
The meeting also discussed the removal of a triangular island at Janakpuri's C-1 junction, the installation of a new signal near Tihar Jail Gate No. 3, the installation of jersey barriers on the Paschim Vihar-Milap Apartment stretch, and the introduction of a U-turn and signal at Dabri Gol Chakkar.
The proposals aim to improve road safety and reduce congestion in the area, and a formal proposal will soon be made to the relevant agencies.
